Masai Mara Game Reserve

The Masai Mara Game Reserve is among the most visited places in Kenya for its famous annual wildebeest migration, that came to be known as the 7th wonder of the world. A million wildebeest embark on a migration Northwards from the Serengeti plains towards into the Masai Mara (from the South) in a quest to find new pastures and water.

Well known to the older members in the heard but a new experience to the now grown calves that have to make this journey for the first time. Born to run, and determined more to live is what unfolds as they come across the best hunters on these plains and the unforgiving waters inhabited by large crocodiles. Despite all the challenges, a new assurance of life is seen on these lands giving the wildebeests another day to fight again.

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha in terms of elevation compared to other lakes on the Great Rift Valley is the highest.

It is feed by two rivers Malewa and Gilgil. Despite no visible outlet from Lake Naivasha, the water is fresh.

For the past three years, the water levels have risen exponentially a phenomenon that can be observed in Lake Nakuru. Despite the drastic changes wildlife and bird life have their adaptive way to accommodate change of environment.

These and many more observations make Lake Naivasha a place to visit as the region has been a destination for geography lovers as well enthusiast of volcanic activities.

Hell’s Gate National Park can not be left out when one mentions Lake Naivasha. At 68 sq km, Hell’s Gate National Park has been famed from the steep-sided valley formed by then an outlet of Lake Naivasha. Here one can cycle or walk among the freely grazing wildlife.

Amboseli National Park:

When one mentions Amboseli National Park, a picture of giant tusked elephants comes in mind. This has been and is a home to some of the largest elephants. It is the spectacular and vast wildlife observed grazing in harmony during the dry season that clearly depicts the scale in which swamp vegetation, marshland support life.

For a panoramic, the observation hill provides an elevated view of all directions and a view of hippopotamus basking in the sun below.

Day by Day

Day 1:

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will be welcomed and introduced to your safari guide.

Soon after a short briefing, drive past Nairobi towards the Great Rift Valley. Get to know about the benefits, impacts and attractions that have been experienced by the local people and what makes this intracontinental ridge a spectacular spot to visit.

Arrive at Masai Mara Game Reserve in time for lunch. Check-in and spend the afternoon in leisure.

At 1600 hrs start your evening game drive into the reserve in search of the big five and over four hundred and fifty different bird species found here.

At sunset, drive back to the lodge.

Day 2:

Full day at the Masai Mara with morning game drive and evening game drive.

Day 3:

Enjoy a hot morning breakfast after which you will leave Masai Mara and drive towards Lake Naivasha. Arrive in time for lunch and the rest of the evening either at leisure. Alternatively, one could decide to go for a guided nature walk on the Crescent Island. It is on at this Island where one can walk and come close to the wildlife that is found here brought when filming the movie “Out of Africa” directed and produced by Sydney Pollack, and starred by Meryl Steep and Robert Redford in 1985.

Lake Naivasha is known for her freshwater which provides life to different wildlife and bird species easily viewable either by taking a walk on the Crescent Island or riding a boat. The Lake has a vast history that has shaped the way of live both for the local people and the horticultural activities that are under taken here. It is for this reason, you spend the evening learning and coming up and close to a lake found that at one time almost dried up.

Time spent either at leisure or in discovering more about Lake Naivasha, it is the massive and huge grass eating hippopotamus that brings down the curtains when they come out on land in their numbers to graze till dawn.

Day 4:

Enjoy a hot morning breakfast after which you will leave Lake Naivasha and drive back past Nairobi and further South.

It is a drive into the open plains that have been holding the secret to life not only to the communities who settled here but also to the wildlife known for it’s spectacular appearance ever since the highest mountain in Africa (and the world’s tallest free standing mountain) was formed about 2.5 million years ago and standing at 5.891-m (19,330-ft). Amboseli National Park the window to Mt. Kilimanjaro and also called the life giving mountain.

Surrounded by semi-arid vegetation, it is here at Amboseli National Park where a fresh source of water provides life to some of the largest elephants and delicate vegetation. It is a moment of speechlessness that engulfs to see an ecosystem supporting life not only to the local communities but to the beautiful wildlife found here.

Arrive at Amboseli National Park in time for lunch and spend time at leisure.

At 1600hrs, start an evening game drive as well as capturing the scenic views.

Day 5:

Enjoy a hot morning breakfast after which you will leave Amboseli National Park and drive towards Nairobi.
